Charleston’s 1^st “Eco-friendly” Real Estate Office Opens in Park Circle 

(North Charleston, SC) – AgentOwned Park Circle opened its doors this fall in an effort to fill a void that existed for “eco-friendly” real estate representation.  The office, located in the thriving “main street” section of Park Circle on East Montague Avenue, was formed by Charleston Realtors®,Melissa Bissett and Gary Bissett.  “We created the office to help both new and established builders and agents understand the needs of consumers in regard to eco-friendly homes,” states Melissa Bissett, Broker in Charge of the new office.  

Two of a select few to receive the newly formed designation of “Eco-broker”, the owners realized there was a need for “green” real estate services after years of working in new home sales with builders that upheld the “Earthcraft House” building certification. The “Earthcraft House” certification is granted only to builders who meet the stringent requirements of third party inspections; based off a blueprint for healthier, more comfortable homes, that reduce utility bills and help to protect the environment by minimizing homeowners’ carbon footprint.   

As full service real estate agency, the company offers buyer and seller representation, a rental management department, an in-house lender, “Residential Mortgage of SC, LLC,” and a new home sales division. The new home sales division encourages and assists agents and builders to work with certified "green" suppliers.  “We provide the training and assistance necessary for our builders and agents that strive to become experts in building, renovating, and marketing eco-friendly homes,” says Melissa. 

“Besides a desire to assist buyers and builders with “green” building practices, we built the actual office with sustainability in mind,” Bissett adds.  All of the building products use are either recyclable or require little environmental resources to maintain.  Materials such as concrete countertops, dual flush toilets, LED lighting, 30% post consumer recycled sheetrock, bamboo flooring, and office furniture made from recycled materials help make the office “earth friendly” on many levels. 

Since opening its doors in October, 2008, AgentOwned Park Circle has already added sixteen licensed Realtors® to their team and represents three unique builders that maintain “Earthcraft House” certification.
